Discrimination, Equality & Pay Transparency
Equality at work is both a legal obligation and a growing area of compliance risk. Cyprus law, shaped by EU directives, protects employees against discrimination on grounds including sex, age, disability, race and ethnic origin, religion or belief, and sexual orientation — in recruitment, during employment, and on termination. Newer obligations around pay transparency are raising the bar again.
We advise employers on building workplaces and policies that meet these obligations, and we advise employees who believe they have been treated unlawfully.
For employers
We help you put equal-treatment and anti-harassment policies in place, handle complaints and grievances properly, and prepare for the reporting and transparency obligations now arriving through EU pay-transparency rules. Early, sensible compliance is far cheaper than defending a claim.
For employees
We advise on whether the treatment you have experienced — in hiring, pay, promotion, or dismissal — amounts to unlawful discrimination or harassment, and how to raise and, if necessary, pursue a claim.
What we advise on
- Discrimination in recruitment, employment and dismissal
- Equal pay and equal treatment
- Harassment and sexual harassment at work
- The EU Pay Transparency Directive and its implementation in Cyprus
- Reasonable accommodation and disability rights
- Grievance handling and internal complaints procedures
